🐎 Biography
Nazlina, registered as AHR #6, holds a unique and significant place in the early development of Arabian horses in America. Born on April 13, 1897, she was a chestnut mare, bred not in the deserts of Arabia, but in the nascent American Arabian breeding program of Randolph Huntington at Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York.
Her pedigree is a testament to Huntington's early efforts to establish Arabian horses in the United States. Nazlina's sire was the celebrated desert-bred stallion *Anazeh, known for his lineage (Leopard x *Naomi). Her dam was *Nazli, another key mare in Huntington's program, herself sired by Maidan and out of Naomi.
This makes Nazlina a product of carefully selected, imported foundation stock, rather than a direct import herself. She carries the genetic legacy of these early imports through her parentage.
Nazlina was part of Randolph Huntington's significant breeding herd until the herd dispersal sale in 1907. Following this sale, she was acquired by Hartman Stock Farm in Columbus, Ohio, where she continued her breeding career, producing Metoecia.
She represents an era when the breed was meticulously established and developed on American soil using the best available imported stock.
